Nancy McGinty Neely, born November 4th 1952, was called home to her heavenly father on Saturday, December 16th. Although born and raised in Westbrook, Maine; Nancy lived the last 37 years in North Carolina. Nancy was a devoted wife for the last 43 years, loving mother to her two daughters, and an amazing Nana to her 5 beautiful grandchildren. Anyone who knew her, knew she had a servant’s heart and loved doing for others in the name of Jesus Christ. As an active member of Richmond Hill Baptist Church, she served in many roles including director of children’s choir, leader of the Purple Hats ladies group, Mission Friends teacher, and Sunday School teacher to the 1st & 2nd graders. Nancy has always had a passion for children. After working as a teacher’s assistant at Yadkinville Elementary School for many years, she retired as a Full-Time Nana in 2009. She not only loved her own grandchildren so much but many, many others as well. She volunteered at Forbush Elementary where her grandchildren attended school, helping with crafts, reading to different classes, and helping teachers and the school with many events. Nancy touched so many lives with simply her zest for life, willingness to help, and contagious smile. She loved taking pictures, loved books, gardening, camping, and spending time with her family. She was a selfless, compassionate, fun loving woman who will be missed by many. Nancy is survived by her loving husband Rob, two daughters; Mandy(Jason)Casertano, Jessica (Justin) Dunn, a sister Marleen (Charlie) Grover, and brother Mark (Debby) McGinty; 5 grandchildren; Giovanni Casertano, Nina Casertano, Luca Casertano, Liam Dunn, and Truett Dunn who loved their Nana so much and will miss her greatly. Also her step-mother Lucy McGinty along with many special nieces, nephews, and other family members. She was preceded in death by her father, John F. McGinty, mother Leona Guitard McGinty, and a granddaughter Lily Faith. Many thanks to the staff at Village Point Family Medicine, the oncology department at Forsyth Medical Center, and the staff in the ICU at Forsyth for all the compassionate care that was given to mom during her brief illness.
