Williams Yadkinville-Nannie Sue Evans Williams, 80, of Yadkinville, passed away Friday, January 1, 2021. She was born on November 13, 1940 in Yadkin County to Dick and Hazel Kimmer Evans. She was the fourth child born of six children. Nannie Sue grew up in the Boonville, NC and Shady Grove-Center road community. She was a student at Boonville School. She appreciated her teachers and classmates. In high school, she was a cheerleader, always cheering her brothers on in sports. Nannie Sue was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, joining the church at age 13. Growing up as a child, her mother would walk great distances with her children so they could attend church. In 1959 Nannie Sue married Jim Williams, a son of Robert and Cleo Hall Williams. In Nannie Sue’s adult life, after marrying Jim Williams, she moved her membership to Union Cross Friends Church. Nannie Sue was faithful to her church and God, serving as Sunday School teacher, Missionary Circle, and where ever she was needed. Nannie Sue worked at Fall Creek Elementary School cafeteria for 30 years. She would often say I have three sons! Now I have over three hundred children and she loved every one of them. She also enjoyed the principals and teachers and all of the staff at Fall Creek School. After she retired, she always appreciated seeing former students and wanting the best for them. She developed lots of lasting relations with students and staff. After retirement, she volunteered at Wake Forest Baptist Health Center, which she enjoyed for 13 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Williams, a sister Mary Evans Shaw, in-laws Glade Shaw, Joann Evans and Jetty Evans, and her grandson James Hobson Williams. Surviving are her sons, Frank Williams, Jr. and wife Donna and their children Landon Jason Williams and wife Ruth, Morgan and husband Cody Miller, and Bailey Williams, Joe Williams, Ted Jason Williams and wife Tina and their daughter Katlen Jean Williams, three great-grandchildren Luna, Tatum, and Casper. Nannie Sue loved her children and grandchildren. They were the joy of her life. God took her beloved Jim home on November 20, 1993. A private funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 2:30PM at Union Cross Friends Church with Rev. Robin Dixon officiating. The immediate family will be in the church and the church family may view the service in the family center, socially distanced. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Nannie Sue will be available for public viewing Saturday, January 2, 2020 from 11:00AM to 5:00PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend.
