Nell Freeman Hardy

East Bend Mrs. Rosa “Nell” Freeman Hardy, 88, passed away Monday, November 16, 2020 at her home. Mrs. Hardy was born November 26, 1931 in Surry County to Stanford and Mallie Mickles Freeman. She was a member of Union Cross Friends Church. Mrs. Hardy was known for knitting caps for preemies and delivering them to the hospitals. In her younger years, she enjoyed riding motorcycles. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hardy was preceded in death by her husband, Julius “JC” Coke Hardy; and two brothers, Dwight and Donald Freeman. She is survived by her children, Hilda (Larry) Hutchens, Billy (Jane) Hardy, Gay Nell (Dick) Wilson, Pam (Larry) Hicks, and Chris Hardy; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Hobert (Karen) Freeman. A private service will be conducted at a later date for Mrs. Hardy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mtn. Valley Hospice PO Box 1267 Yadkinville, NC 27055. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Hardy family.
