Yadkinville – Nellie Branon Stewart, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 30, after an extended illness. Born in Yadkin County on May 8, 1933, to the late Troy Hendren Branon and Mary Hutchens Branon, she was 91 at her passing. She was a very strong and independent woman, who always managed to find a way to make everyone happy. She loved Duke Blue Devils Basketball and the Atlanta Braves Baseball Organization. She worked for Hanes Hosiery for many years, moving on and later retiring from AT&T. After retirement, she helped Randy Abbott at Mackie’s Jewelry, and shared many fond memories of her time there. Her last days were spent in the home surrounded by family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Lee M. Stewart, Jr.; brothers, Thad Branon, Davis Branon, Floyd Branon, Howard Hutchens, Thomas Hutchens, Jack Branon, Paul Branon and sisters, Lillian Ireland and Louise Moore. She is survived by two daughters, Frances (Joel) Wooten, and Marshia (Dean) Coe, grandchildren Tyler Wooten and Kathy Wooten, Madeline (Ben) Redmond, Sam Coe, Will (Taylor) Coe, and Luke (Lori) Coe. Great Grandchildren include Nathan Pardue, Scarlet Brown and Paisley, Liam, Maddie, and Halli Redmond, Saylor Coe, and Taylor, Salem, and Addison Coe. Also surviving is a brother, Albert (Shirley) Branon, and a host of special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., with the service following at 3:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville. The service will be held by Rev. Kenny Pardue. Burial will follow at Yadkinville Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice for their kindness and generosity.
