Nellie Swisher Wagoner

Mrs. Nellie Belle Swisher Wagoner, 86, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 at her home. Mrs. Wagoner was born June 5, 1935 in Yadkin County to Alvin “Ab” and Madge Long Swisher. She was a lifelong member of Branon Friends Meeting. Nellie retired from Food Lion as the Deli Manager when she was 83 years old. She was one of the original vendors at Vintage Village Flea Market and did oil paintings, made baskets, bows, and wedding cakes. She could do and make anything. Nellie was the best cook. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wagoner was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Lee Wagoner; sisters, Mary Ruth Richardson, Lois Renegar, and Phyllis Cook. She is survived by her son, Dale Wagoner and wife Beverly; grandchildren, Jacob Wagoner (Molly) and Rachel Wagoner (Eric); sisters, Zelma (Roy) Eddleman and Nancy Steelman; brothers, Fred (Brenda) Swisher and Francis (Laura) Swisher; niece, Brenda (Steve) Estep; special cousins, Cynthia Ellis and Mary Mitchell; brother-in-law, Jerry Crook; sister-in-law, Irene Tucker, and Lillian Wagoner; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Branon Friends Meeting with Pastor Eric Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Thursday at Branon Friends Meeting. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Mtn. Valley Hospice 401 Technology Drive Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to Meals on Wheels 207 East Hemlock St. Yadkinville NC 27055. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Mtn.
