Opal Oweeta Mauldin

Hamptonville Ms. Opal Oweeta Mauldin, 96, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Chatham Nursing Center. Opal was born April 16, 1921 in Yadkin County to James Santford and Lucinda Hemric Mauldin. She was an active life-long member of Flat Rock Baptist Church and leaves behind many friends. In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her brother, Hubert Santford Mauldin and wife Annie Trivette Mauldin; and her step mother, Beulah Finney Mauldin. She is survived by her niece, Pattie Mauldin Reece and husband Hoyt of Boonville, NC; a nephew, Ernest Mauldin of Hamptonville, NC; a great nephew, Jerome Mauldin and wife Donna of Hamptonville, NC; a great niece, Lucinda Reece of Wilmington, NC; and other relatives. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Flat Rock Baptist Church with Dr. Joey Tomlin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3800 Flat Rock Church Road, Hamptonville, NC 27020.
