Blanche Bernice Hill

October 15, 1933 — February 6, 2021

Blanche Bernice “Big Momma” Hill, 88, gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, February 6, 2021. She was born October 15, 1933 in Davie County to the late Helius Cuthrell and Louise Tomlin Harding. She was a life-long member or Tabernacle United Church of Christ where she served as a Gospel Choir member, Deaconess, Missionary, and enjoyed going to anybody’s revival. Lovingly known, as “Sister Hill”, she served in the ministry as a faithful member until her health declined. She was employed as a healthcare worker for many years. She also loved gardening, working in the yard and admiring her flowers, fishing, quilting, and rearing her children. Most importantly, “Sister Hill” loved the Lord! She was proceeded in death by her parents, six children James Edward, Faye Elaine ,Harriet Elizabeth, Bernice Roberta, Bobby Ray, and John Ed Anthony, two sisters Willie Mae Harding and Devon “Bonnie” Viola Short. Her loving husband survives her, Mr. James Hill. Additionally, surviving are her four daughters, Betty Lou Frost (William Frost), Debra Williams, Sharon Williams, and Patricia Hymes (Harold Hymes), one sister, Robin Louise Harding, a life-long friend Mary McIvor Williams, a special friend Gloria Lewis, two God-daughters, Sherry Dube and Tangee Truesdale, two special nieces, Dora Crawford, and Melinda Williams, and four special nephews Elvis Harding, Michael Harding, Gary Lee Harding, and Asvaldo Short , a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was a great wife, confidant, aunt, grandmother, and sister. She will be truly missed! A “Celebration of Life” will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the Gentry Family Chapel (5108 US 601 HWY, Yadkinville, NC 27055) with Rev. Marvin Harper officiating. She will lie in state on Wednesday February 10, 2021 from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. The family would like to thank the Tabernacle United Church of Christ, Greater Emmanuel WOFFCC, Inc. Linda Parker and Judy Smith, friends, and family for your support and compassion shown during this time.
