Ronda- Mrs. Pearl Hemric Brooks, 91, of Old Highway 60 passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. She was born February 27, 1931 in Wilkes County to the late Fred and Ethel Day Hemric. Mrs. Brooks worked for several years with Bates Nitewear, later with J.P. Stevens, and was a faithful member of Dennyville Baptist Church. She was a loving devoted wife, mother, and homemaker for her family where she loved to cook and enjoyed raising vegetables for the community. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Brooks; son, Jimmy Brooks; and her sisters, Lucille “Duck” Pinnix, Annie Wagoner, Nellie Sue Mathis; her brothers, Roy “Buck” Hemric, Jim Hemric, Garvey Hemric, Howard Hemric, and Clyde Hemric. Surviving are her son, Wayne Brooks, and wife, Glenda; daughter, Kim Carter, and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Tricia Brooks, Matthew (Mattie) Brooks, Shaun (Kenneth) Dowell, Jason Carter, Brandon Carter, Jessica Carter; great-grandchildren, Rachel Ford, Zack Ford, Noah Ford, Aaliyah Martin, Zoe Martin, McKenzie Martin, Kaleigh Carter, Kaleb Dowell, Dylan Dowell; and her brother, Troy Hemric of Alabama; along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Saturday at Dennyville Baptist Church in Ronda. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 PM Saturday in the church with Rev. Don Mullins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of Hugh Chatham Nursing Center and Mountain Valley Hospice for all their loving care to Mrs. Brooks.
