Pernell A. Hobson

May 16, 1927 — September 13, 2017

Hobson East Bend-  Mrs. Pernell A. Hobson, 90,  passed away peacefully at the SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, surrounded by her Family that she loved and cherished so dearly.  Mrs. Hobson was born on May 16, 1927 to Shirl and Blanche Caudle Adams.  She retired from Surry Community College at the age of 65, only to become a full-time “Nanny” to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hobson was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker to her family, and was a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church. She loved spending her time cooking, canning, sewing, working in her flower and vegetable gardens, and especially loved attending her grandchildren’s ball games.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold Adams, Sam Adams, David Adams, and Troy Adams.  Surviving are her beloved husband of 66 years, Cole M. Hobson, of the home; her children, Mark Hobson and wife, Kaye, of Clemmons; Melissa Deaton and husband, Danny of Plano, TX; Mechelle Crissman and husband, Joey of Boonville; grandchildren, Sarah (Keith) Vestal, Leslie (Brian) Dudas, Joseph (Emily) Crissman, Roseanna (Austin) Laws; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Carrie Vestal, Molly and Avery Dudas, Charley Joe Crissman, Sadie Laws; sisters, Goldie Hamby, Helen (Hank) Foster, Peggy (Ray) Lambert; sister-in-law, Judy Adams; brothers, Ross (Jean) Adams, Bobby “Mutt” Adams, Jack (Ann) Adams, Mike Adams, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00PM Friday at Union Grove Baptist Church.  Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 4:00PM Friday in the church by Rev. Kenny Gooden, Rev. Andy Lambert, Rev. Brent Winslow.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials please be made to either the SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin, 243 West Lee Avenue, Yadkinville, NC  27055 or the the Union Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2401 Nebo Road, Yadkinville, NC  27055.  The family would like to express their gratitude to Marti Driver, nurses and staff of the SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin for their excellent care given to Mrs. Hobson.  Online condolences may be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com.  Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Hobson Family.
