Phyllis Mills Foster

Hamptonville Mrs. Mary “Phyllis” Mills Goforth Foster, 84, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Foster was born March 31, 1938 in Algoma, WV to David and Clara Painter Mills. She was a long-time member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. Mrs. Foster enjoyed classical music, reading, watching movies, and writing. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her first husband, Hubert Eugene Goforth, Sr.; her second husband, Henry Gordon Foster; a daughter, Mary Laura Foster; a grandson, Timothy Alan Amos, Jr.; a son-in-law, Timothy Alan Amos Sr; and a niece, Maria Greenfield. She is survived by her children, Hugh (Kay Kiger) Goforth, Cindy Goforth, Stephanie Goforth, Amy Evans, Teresa (Brian) Jones, and Jimmy Serrano; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; a sister, Sheree (Lewie) Alexander; and a brother, Kenneth David Mills. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Flat Rock Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Tomlin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, PO Box 309 Boonville, NC 27011.
