Margaret Phyllis Mauldin King, 74, received her angel wings on Wednesday, April 11, 2018. She was born November 11, 1943 in Surry County to the late Phillip and Emma Burcham Mauldin. She is survived by the love of her life, of over 55 years, husband Archie King; daughters Deana King and Melissa King; sister Linda (Barry) Wagoner; a lot of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. She was a member of Mtn. View Baptist Church. Mrs. King was a member of the graduating class of 1962 at Elkin High School, where she was the salutatorian. She loved sports, especially watching her girls play ball during their school years. Phyllis was a diehard North Carolina Tar Heels and Starmount Rams fan. She loved cooking and was famous for her pound cakes, in her earlier years she also taught Sunday school at East Elkin Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors at Forsyth Memorial Hospital ICU 2nd floor and the staff of Kindred and Baptist Care at Home for the loving care given to Mrs. King. Her funeral service will be conducted Saturday, April 14, 2018, 11:00 AM at Mtn. View Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
