Ralph Morton Barker

Mr. Ralph M. Barker, 82, of Courtney Church Road passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Walnut Ridge Assisted Living in Walnut Cove, NC. He was born January 12, 1939 in Salisbury, NC to the late Thomas Ralph and Elizabeth Morton Barker. Mr. Barker was retired from the Internal Revenue Service with over 30 years of service. He was an influential member of Courtney Baptist Church since 1985, where he taught Sunday School and was active in the financial and personnel committees, as well as being committed to the upkeep, raising and lowering of the church flags. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 34 years, Pat, his daughter Melissa Britt, step-daughter Sharon Snyder, brother John Barker and brother-in-law Francis Murphy. Surviving are his two sons, Michael Barker and his wife Megan of Hampstead, David Barker and his wife Tammy of Walkertown, step-daughter Anita McKinney of Wilmington; sister Elizabeth Murphy of Dallas, sister Angie Painter and her husband Max of Spartanburg, sister-in-law Kathy Barker of Newport News, sister-in-law Martha Spence of Seneca; grandchildren Brittany Barker, Miki Barker, Mandy Barker, Emily Kirker and her husband Patrick, Nick Barker, CJ Britt, Stephanie Rash and her husband David, Ariel Miller and her husband Jon, Robert McKinney, Kayla McKinney, Patrick McKinney; great grandchildren Keegan Ennett and Macie Layke Cain. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Courtney Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM in Courtney Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Courtney Baptist Church, 3341 Courtney Church Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055 or Trellis Supportive Care, 810 S Main Street, Walnut Cove, NC 27052. The family would like to thank the staff of Walnut Ridge Assisted Living and Trellis Supportive Care for the care shown to Mr. Barker during his stay.
