Ralph Walter Lane, 79, went to be home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 22, 2018. He was born on January 19, 1939 in Yadkin County to the late Walter and Elma Niten Lane. As a young man, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he proudly served his country. After retirement from Chatham Manufacturing, he worked as a driver and volunteer at the Yadkin Nursing Center. He faithfully attended Crossroad Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school, played the guitar and harmonica. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Stephen and Roger. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Peggy Burchette Lane, children; Patricia (Joel) Vestal, David (Lorie) Lane, Kathy (Jeff) Jones, Brian (Casey) Lane. Grandchildren; Joseph (Taylor) Vestal, Cameron Willard, James Willard, great-grandchild; Jack Vestal. Also surviving are siblings; Ruby, Dewey, Violet, Shirley, Elizabeth and Gray. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Gentry Family Funeral Service. His funeral will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 25, 2018 in the Chapel with Reverend Joel Vestal and Reverend Leon Wishon.
