Yadkinville Mr. Ralph David Nixon, 79, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Nixon was born June 20, 1939 in Surry County to the late John and Ethel Mosley Nixon. He served in the National Guard for 6 years, retired from RJ Reynolds, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Nixon served as Chairman of Deacons at Forbush Baptist Church where he was a member. He also volunteered at Yadkin Christian Ministries and loved to travel with his wife and his church group, “The Gadabouts.” Ralph was well known for his great story telling and funny jokes, and he always put a smile on everyone’s face and brought them joy. He will be dearly missed. Mr. Nixon is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Carolyn Billings Nixon; two beloved brothers, Rev. Russ (Elva) Nixon and Roger (Jean) Nixon; two special nieces, Carrie (Todd) Trivette and Ashley (Zach) Lindsey; two special nephews, Rev. Marty (Angela) Nixon and Kelly (Cindy) Hoots; great nieces and nephews, Zachary, Callie, Ashlyn, Amelia, Jackson, William, and Connor; sister-in-law, Louise (Gary) Hoots; special cousin, Jim (Vivian) Nixon & family; his wonderful church family and a host of special friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00PM, Friday, July 6, 2018 at Forbush Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Crouse, Rev. Dennis Shaw, Rev. Ray Davis, and Rev. Russ Nixon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and also Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM Thursday evening at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
