Ray Columbus Shore

Jonesville Mr. Ray Columbus Shore, 84, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Yadkin Nursing Center.  Mr. Shore was born August 7, 1934 in Yadkin County to BC “Lum” and Sallie Dobbins Shore.  Mr. Shore was a veteran of the US Army and a member of Arlington First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for more than 40 years.  Ray was a strong Republican and very involved in politics. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shore was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Finney Shore; his daughter, Shelia Shore Simpson and several brothers and sisters.  He is survived by two grandchildren, William “Will” Hayes Simpson and Leah Ray Simpson; son-in-law, Powell Simpson; three nieces, Brenda (Joel) Ireland, Lee Ann (Allen) Day, and Linda Salmons; and many, many friends and extended family.  A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00AM, Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Arlington First Baptist Church with Rev. Matty Ponce de Leon officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by NC National Guard Honor Guard and Yadkin VFW Post 10346.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM Tuesday evening at Gentry Funeral Service in Jonesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arlington First Baptist Youth Missions, 345 S. Main St. Jonesville, NC 28642 or to Yadkin Nursing Center, 903 W, Main St. Yadkinville, NC 27055.
