Rayford Franklin Evans

Mr. Rayford Franklin Evans, 78, went to his heavenly home on October 28, 2023. He was born in Yadkin County on December 20, 1944 to Richard Evans and Hazel Kimmer Evans. Rayford enjoyed cooking, watching and playing sports, and spending time with his grandson, Remington. He was drafted out of high school to the Kansas City A’s where he was their catcher, until he was drafted to serve in Vietnam. 

In addition to his parents, Rayford is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jettie Williams Triplett Evans; sisters, Mary Shaw and Nannie Sue Williams; brothers, Verle Evans and Ronnie Evans; and a great-granddaughter, Carol Lynn Triplett. He is survived by his children, Joy (Scotty) Spillman and Darrell Triplett; grandchildren, Lane (Candance) Triplett, Lauren (Shyea) Davis, and Remington Franklin Spillman; great grandchildren, Cohen and Merritt Davis, Hendrix Triplett; a brother, Bill (Lucy) Evans; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 11:00AM in the Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville. Burial will follow at Boonville Cemetery with full military honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and NC National Honor Guard. A celebration of life will be held immediately following the service at Shady Grove Church in Boonville, NC. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 5:00 – 8:00PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of the Cardiac ICU Unit at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. They would like to specifically thank Mrs. Natasha and Mr. Frank. They would also like to thank Dr. Phillip Keith and Dr. Chuck Harris for all their love and care towards Rayford.
