Reverend Grover C. Holder of Reidsville passed away on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022 at the home of his daughter, Deborah Lawson of Boonville, NC. A funeral service will be held 1 pm Thursday, April 28th at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church on 1611 Ashley Loop Road. He will be buried in the church cemetery with Full Military Honors. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening at the church from 6-8 pm Reverend Holder was born July 18,1929 to the late Ora Lee Holder and Maude Surratt Holder. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Preceding him in death along with his parents were wife, Alberta Cockerham Holder, brothers, Marvin and Tommy Holder, sisters, Mona Ann Lawson and Laverne Holder. Surviving are daughters, Deborah Lawson and husband Steve of Boonville, NC, Tammy Holder and husband John Bolgrien of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and son Tony Holder and wife Marlene Holder of Reidsville, NC, grandchildren, David Lawson and wife Raina, Justin Lawson and wife Crystal, Mark Lawson, Suzanne Poindexter and Erika Holder and fiancé Josh Petty, great-grandchildren, Morgan Lawson, Luke Lawson, Emily Lawson, Daniel Poindexter and Matthew Poindexter, siblings Yvonne Nichols, Shelby Anthony, Denny Holder and Jane Utt. Just imagine how many people are in heaven because of how much Rev Holder loved The Lord. Rev. Grover C Holder served as pastor for churches in Virginia and North Carolina since 1957. Most recently serving as pastor at Mount Hermon Baptist Church from 1977 until his retirement in 2020. He was a native of Mt Airy, NC and a graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with an associate ministry’s degree. During his ministry Rev Holder also served as Chaplain for NC Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC, Director of Evangelism and Moderator for the Dan Valley Association, Chaplain for the Rockingham County Sheriff's Department and Chaplain for VFW Honor Guard of Rockingham County. Always a scholar and teacher of God's Word, Rev Holder shared the Gospel with everyone that he met and practiced what he preached until his final day.
