Rev. Donald Ray Bell, Sr.

Mt. Airy Rev. Donald Ray Bell, Sr., 75, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 7, 2020. Rev. Bell was born June 12, 1945 in Raleigh County, WV to Samuel and Katherine Branstetter Bell. He was a member of Freedom Gospel Baptist Church. Rev. Bell served as a minister for 45 years, worked as a coal miner for 18 years, and a truck driver for 19 years. In addition to his parents, Rev. Bell was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Powell; and a brother, Robert Bell. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia Ann Hurlocker Bell; three children, Donald (Autumn) Bell Jr., Scott (Bridgette) Bell, and Christina (Mark) Nixon; grandchildren, Kristen Nixon, Madison Nixon, and Chloe Bell; a brother, Sammy (Karen) Bell; and many friends and loved ones. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00PM, Monday, October 12, 2020 at Freedom Gospel Baptist Church in Rockford with Rev. Randy Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00PM prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Freedom Gospel Baptist Church 474 Old Rockford Road Dobson, NC 27017.
