Jonesville Mr. Richard “Dick” Howard Wilson, 86, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022 with his wife and step daughter by his side. He was born March 9, 1936 in Burlington Vermont to Howard and Hazel Aunchmun Wilson. Dick graduated from Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, VT in 1956. He retired from the Vermont Army National Guard after 30 years of service, last serving at Range Control, C.E.A.T.S, Underhill, VT. He was a member of the Franklin County Sportsman Club, archery, rifle, and pistol where he was instrumental in helping to develop a new archery course with 14 targets in the late 1980’s. Dick joined the Masonic Temple in St. Albans, VT where he has been a member for over 60 years; Shriners in 1963 where he was a member of the motor corps and participated in countless parades and celebrations and the Champlain Country County, Swanton, VT. As a Shriner, Dick joined the Motor Riders Motorcycle Club where he helped to collect food for the shelters and toys for the annual toy ride in Montpelier. He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid fan of the BFA St. Albans sports programs and traveled regularly to away games in Chittenden County and New Hampshire for competition. Dick became a weight lifter later in life at the Collins Pearly Sports Center. His capstone achievement was his 800lb., combines lift at a meet at the Sports Center in 1996. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Buker Wilson; a step son, Robert M. Casey; a son-in-law, Jon E. Boise; and a step daughter, Victoria L. Cootware. He is survived by his loving wife whom he married on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17 2002 in DeLand, Fl., Patricia “Pat” Casey-Wilson; daughter, Tari J. Wilson of Hampton, NH; three grandchildren, Bryce (Kelsey) Johnson, Konnar Johnson, and Kade Johnson; step children, Jacquelyn Boise of Jonesville, NC, Marcee (James) Rossignol of Otis, ME, Timothy (Melissa) Casey of Vergennes, VT, John (Tina) Casey of Winooski, VT, and Patricia (Norbert) Casey-Rafter of West Rutland, VT; daughter-in-law, Emilia Casey of Kernersville, NC; 28 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; a special daughter friend, Becky Wood; special friend, Virginia Wagoner; a sister, Sandra (Scott) Newman of Zehyr Hills, FL; several nieces and nephews; and his special K-9 companions, Josie, Daisey, and Kiki. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00AM, Saturday, April 23, 2022 at New Beginnings United Methodist Church in Jonesville with Rev. Jeanette Hayes officiating. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Mtn. Valley Hospice for the loving care provided during this difficult journey.
