Richard Lee "Leon" Taylor

Richard Lee Taylor also known as Leon passed away unexpectedly Wednesday July 5, 2023 at the age of 66. Richard was born August 1, 1956 in Yadkin County to the late Richard “Big Rich” Taylor and Lucy Ann Taylor. Richard retired from Unifi in 2019 but still worked in produce at Food Lion. In his spare time, he also worked beside his baby brother in his lawn care service. Richard loved his church and was always the first one at the church. Richard started every morning with a cup of coffee at the local three Brothers. When he wasn’t working, he loved spending time with his family, tending to his flowers, bird watching and taking rides on his Harley which was his pride and joy. Richard was also known for the pride he took in his landscaped yard, being a man of God and his sense of humor. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Roger Glenn and sister-in-law Ivy Taylor. He is survived by his fiancée Annette T. Hughes; four children Richard Lee Taylor, Jr., Tryetha Taylor, Noah Taylor, Micah Taylor; four grandchildren Chantea Taylor, Navy Rose Taylor Justice, Micah and Ch’kaysun Taylor; four brothers Roy (Cynthia) Taylor, Ray (Tina)Taylor, Ricky (Barbara) Taylor, Kenny Taylor; two sisters Molly Glenn, Lilly Taylor and host of nieces and nephews. Richard will be dearly missed and forever loved by all who knew him. The family welcomes anyone that knew him to join us for Richard’s homegoing 2:00 PM Thursday July 13, 2023 at New Birth Worship Center by Dr. James Hunt and Rev. Theodore Dobson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Taylor family.
