Richard Eugene Straughn

Mr. Richard Eugene Straughn, 76, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021. He was born March 26, 1945 in Guilford County to the late Lawrence Straughn and Oney Caviness Straughn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, and 4 brothers. He is survived by his loving wife, Alice Sweatman Straughn; children, Ashley Ostrout, Rhea Straughn, Ricky (Jessica) Straughn; grandchildren, Henry Straughn, Vivian Straughn; sister, June Lobdell; brothers, Bob (Josephine) Straughn, Sugar (Gail) Straughn; many nieces, and nephews, and his beloved K9 companions, Bear, Missy, and Chance. Richard enjoyed playing cards with his siblings. He also loved playing golf, pitching horseshoes, playing baseball, American Legion softball, and in his younger years, Richard was a marbles champion. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of Kindred Home Health, Yadkin Medical Associates, Dr. Moreb and the staff of Novant Health Cancer Institute-Forsyth Hematology, and Mtn.
