Robert Junior Edwards

Hamptonville Mr. Robert Junior Edwards, 87, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018 at SECU Hospice Home of Yadkin. Mr. Edwards was born April 18, 1931 in Surry County to Weaver and Ruby Crouse Edwards. He was a member of Mtn. Grove UMC and enjoyed watching westerns, fishing and hunting. Mr. Edwards farmed most of his life and retired from Smurfit Stone with over 42 years of service. In addition to his parents, Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Day Edwards and a sister, Alma Whitman. He is survived by two children, Jane (Willie) Poindexter and Wayne (Kathy) Edwards; grandchildren, Grey Poindexter of Hamptonville, Brian (Jennifer) Edwards of Hampstead, Allison (Kaleb) Mathews of Yadkinville, and Mark (Marie) Edwards of Kernersville; great grandchildren, Elizabeth (Michael) Lalonde, Cicily Poindexter, Joshua Edwards, Nina Mathews, Noah, Conner, Asher, and James Edwards; great-great grandchildren, Chloe and Gabe; a sister, Lois (Gene) Kennedy; two brothers, Jim Edwards and Bill (Kay) Edwards; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00AM, Friday, December 21, 2018 at Gentry Family Chapel with Rev. Don Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Mtn. Grove UMC cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
