On Friday morning, November 15, 2024, Robert “Bob” McHenry passed away peacefully at his home in Boonville, North Carolina, his wife Sylvia by his side. Bob was born January 31, 1946, in Tioga County, PA, to the late Robert S. and Betty Jean (Cole) McHenry. He graduated from Wellsboro High School and soon after enlisted in the Marines, serving in the Vietnam War and earning a Purple Heart. Bob was self-employed most of his life, operating his own construction company and often working with his son, Matt. Most importantly, he was a strong, steady Christian man.
He is survived by his sweetheart and loving wife of over 58 years, Sylvia Briggs McHenry. Also surviving are his children: Michelle (Mike) Bower, Matt (Jenny) McHenry, and Missy (Dwight) Gullion, his brother Ed (Cindy) McHenry, and many adoring grandchildren, family, and friends.
He loved the Psalms. A favorite is “The LORD is my rock, and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust.” - Psalm 18:2 His life exemplified the following Scripture: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” - 2 Timothy 4:7
His body was laid to rest Saturday, November 16, at Northwood Baptist Church, Yadkinville, North Carolina, at a graveside funeral service with friends and family in attendance. The family wishes to thank all the many people who helped and encouraged Bob and his family these last few months.
