Robert Lee Walker reached many destinations in his 82 years. He departed on May 11th, 2021 for his final trip to receive his heavenly reward. Born in 1938 to James Commie and Freida Hines Walker, Robert Lee probably began working by around 6 months old and continued at a breakneck pace from then on. His heart’s desire was to drive a truck, and he did, for over 4 million miles. Only one thing was sweeter to him than having a job he loved and that was Jeanie Jennings Walker, his wife of 61 years, who is left to treasure the many memories they made together. Robert’s life was also shared with his daughter, Wendy Walker Plummer and husband Todd of Bethania; his only sister Phyllis Walker Alexander of Winston Salem; his beloved grandsons Robert Hugh Brown of Clemmons, Thomas James “TJ” Brown and Jon Walker Brown, both of East Bend. Although his family is small many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends will recall Robert as one of the best. He would be humbled to be honored by the many he held dear. A service to honor the life of Robert Walker will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville.
