Robert "Bob" Wood

Robert “Bob” Wood, 80, passed away peacefully on the 16th of December, 2024. He was born to the late Ernest Weldon Wood and Rhea Carol Cottle in Raleigh County, West Virginia on the 18th of February, 1944. He enjoyed many hobbies like announcing walking horse shows, hunting, and beekeeping. Bob also was an auctioneer and raised hunting dogs. Furthermore, he was part of the police force in the town of Beckley, West Virginia as well as a member of the Yadkin County Beekeeper Association. Bob was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church of Hamptonville. 

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, John Weldon and his sister, Nancy Vest. He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Wood; step-children, Richard Bowyer, Terri Sarandria, and Michelle Loya; grandchildren, Ashley Sayers, Tyler Weldon Wood, Sarah Gleitz, Jared Bowyer, Katie Redes, Nicholas Sarandria, Samuel Bowyer, and Chase Karlen; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Duncan; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 3rd, 2025 at Mountain View Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Childress and Pastor Anthony Silvers officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 AM until 11:00AM. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Iredell Memorial Hospital, and special friend, Jerry Wyatt. In lieu of flowers, the family requests to have memorials made to the Mountain View Baptist Church Building Fund.
