Roger Dale Swaim

Roger Dale Swaim, 77, passed away Wednesday April 14, 2021. Mr. Swaim was born May 8, 1943 in Forsyth County to the late Richard Wesley Swaim and Maggie Sprinkle Swaim of Yadkinville. Roger retired from R.J. Reynolds in 1992 after being a training instructor and package operator for more than 20 years. Prior to that Roger was a Plant Manager for Control Data, in High Point, NC that allowed him to travel throughout the US with his wife and young family. Roger was a loving father with a great sense of humor and a quick wit that lives on through each of his children. Roger enjoyed riding horses, camping and watching his children play sports throughout the years but his most beloved passion was listening to country music. He was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jerry Swaim. Surviving are his wife of 58 years Lucy Gardner Swaim; children Richie Gardner Swaim, Dee Dee Swaim (Roy) Cox, Destry Allen (Blythe) Swaim; grandchildren Elizabeth Cox, Cooper Cox, Wheeler Swaim, Rowan Swaim; brother Ricky Swaim and devoted aunts Sadie Weavil, Mary Lee Swaim, Jeanette Stoneman. The family will receive friends Friday April 16^th 2021 from 1-3pm at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville, with the funeral immediately following visitation at 3:00pm in the Gentry Family Chapel. by the Rev. Elisha Robertson. Burial will follow at Flat Rock Baptist Church. The family would like to say a very special thanks to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and the care takers at the home for the loving care given to Mr. Swaim.
