Roland Daniel “Danny” Culpepper, 55, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, May 25, 2021. Danny was a thoughtful, caring, gifted man, and also a devoted husband, father, son, and brother who will be greatly missed. He was born March 15, 1966 in Chesapeake, Virginia, to Roland West Culpepper, Jr, and Judith Dodd Culpepper. Danny was married to the love of his life, Janet Taylor Culpepper and is survived by his devoted wife and loving family: children Colby Dodd Culpepper, Caitlyn Elizabeth Culpepper, Jarrett Randall (Jessica) Mullins, Brock Landon Mullins, Peyton Taylor Mullins; grandchildren, Hadleigh Rainn Mullins, Connor Blake Mullins; Father, Roland West (Linda) Culpepper Jr.; sister, Rebecca Ellen (Eddie) Lupton; brother, Timothy Sean (Leah Ann) Culpepper; father-in-law, Jesse Lee (Jo Ann) Taylor; sister-in-law, Drama (Brent) Choplin. Danny was preceded in death by his mother Judith Dodd Culpepper, and mother-in-law, Bobbie Hall Taylor. Danny graduated from Deep Creek High School, attended East Carolina University before transferring Virginia Tech, where he received his degree in Accounting. Danny played baseball at both ECU and Virginia Tech, and was an avid Hokie alumni fan - particularly supportive of VT Football. Later in his career Danny also attended UNC-Chapel Hill and earned his Master’s in Business Administration. Danny was employed by PackRite, where he held the role of CFO. Danny approached life from a simple perspective and cherished time with his family. He shared his passion and knowledge for baseball through playing/coaching but was most fulfilled and proud to watch Colby play the game he loved. Another of Danny’s greatest pleasures was sharing time with his loving wife, just relaxing at the beach. A celebration of Danny’s life will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Prospect UMC sanctuary. Please arrive 30 before the service to convey respects. The family encourages “casual” attire, as they will be wearing Virginia Tech Hokies fan gear in honor and memory of Danny. Please also join the family for refreshments and fellowship in the Church Life Center, immediately following the celebration and graveside services. Out of love for our compromised friends and children, Prospect UMC policy asks that anyone who has not been fully vaccinated against covid-19 please plan to mask while indoors. Our family is most grateful to the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Wake Forest Baptist Cancer Center for such amazing care. Janet expresses her deep love for Danny, God, family, church, and each of you – and sends heartfelt thanks for blessing their life through your outpouring of love and prayers. A special thank you to Yadtel Telecom and PackRite for ongoing support, care, and kindness during Danny’s courageous battle with cancer and very difficult journey.
