Ronald Charles Benton, age 69, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021. He was born February 26, 1951 in Surry County to the late Fairries Leroy Benton and Hazel Vertie Johnson Benton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Leroy Benton. He is survived by his children, Tracy Lavonne (Steve) Benton-Felder, and Misty Brook Benton Hamrick; grandchildren, Alyssa Charlie Felder, Riley Benton Hamrick, and Zachary Alexander Felder; sister, Judy Benton; brother, Michael Lynn (Penny) Benton, and his K9 companion, Spunky and feline companion, Yellow Bell. Mr. Benton proudly served in the United States Airforce with 23 years of service and retired as a Master Sergeant, and he was a Proud Vietnam Veteran. Ronald loved the United States flag and he would go to local cemeteries and place flags on graves of veterans during holidays. He loved watching Nascar and he was a stock car driver for over 10 years. Mr. Benton will be available for public viewing, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday, February 19, 2021 at the funeral home. There will be a private graveside service held at Swaim’s Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Don Hudson officiating, with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family would like to thank the staff of New Horizons Home Health, especially his caregiver that became Ronald’s best friend, David Shelton for the loving care shown.
