Mrs. Ruby Avonell Prim Lawson, 87, of Limerock Road passed away peacefully Monday, September 24, 2018 at her home. She was born February 3, 1931 in Yadkin County to the late Loyd Herman and Hazel Miller Prim. Mrs. Lawson retired as a beautician, enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, and traveling with bus tours. She was a faithful member of Richmond Hill Baptist Church where she served the church faithfully as a member of the choir, on numerous committees, and as a Sunday School Teacher for over 60 years. She enjoyed visiting rest homes and nursing centers to minister with the residents. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Lawson; grandson, Matthew Stephen Lawson; brother, Dean Prim; and 2 sisters, Mary Ruth Wood and Barbara Steelman. Surviving are her children, Stephen (Deborah) Lawson, Terry (Renee) Lawson; 4 grandchildren, David (Raina) Lawson, Justin (Crystal) Lawson, Mark (Dana) Lawson, Suzanne Poindexter; 5 great-grandchildren, Morgan Lawson, Luke Lawson, Daniel Poindexter, Emily Lawson, Matthew Poindexter; 2 sisters, Ora Lee Sebra of Vero Beach, Fla., Margaret Shore; brother-in-law, Porter (Frances) Lawson. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Thursday September 27, 2018 at Richmond Hill Baptist Church. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM Thursday in the church with Rev. Will Hamric, Rev. Dan Merritt, and Rev. Grover Holder, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
