Ruth Vestal Davis

Davis Jonesville-  Mrs. Ruth Vestal Davis, 90, of Swan Creek Road passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  She was born January 9, 1927 in Yadkin County to the late James M. and Stella Ireland Vestal.  Mrs. Davis was a longtime faithful member of Swan Creek Baptist Church and retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company.  She traveled and played with the “Chatham Blanketeers” Women’s Basketball Team.  She loved traveling, music, dancing, and especially spending time with her family and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cletus Davis, by a grandson, Joshua Davis, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers.  Surviving are her son, Ricky Davis; daughter, Pam Poindexter, and husband, Archie; 6 grandchildren;and 5 great-grandchildren.  The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00PM Sunday at Swan Creek Baptist Church.  Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM Sunday in the church with Pastor Scott Bishop officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to either Swan Creek Baptist Church, 2501 Swan Creek Road, Jonesville, NC 28642 or to the SECU/Mountain valley Hospice Home of Yadkin, 320 West Maple Street, Yadkinville, NC  27055.  The family would like to express their gratitude to a very special friend, Catherine Transou, for all her loving care and friendship given to Mrs. Davis.  Gentry Family Funeral Service of Jonesville is serving the Davis Family.  Online condolences may be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
