Saturday, April 6, a little before 7 PM, the gates of Glory opened to welcome Ruth Elizabeth Davis Hobson home. She was born to Odell and Faye Davis on October 24, 1930. Together, Ruth and Jake brought into the world Sandra Faye (Jerry) Miller and son Mark (Melissa) Hobson. Grandchildren are Kipley (April) Miller, Matthew (Min Zou) Pilcher, and Morgan Hobson. Great Grandchildren are Noah Jake Miller, Kaleb Weslee Miller, and Eden Elizabeth Miller.
Ruth (Sis) was preceded in death by her husband Jake Hobson; parents Odell and Faye Davis, brothers Donald Davis and Billy Davis. Ruth was born during the great depression when material things were scarce, but she excelled in everything she set her hand to. She was often queen of sales with Hazel Keller Cosmetics, where she made many lasting friends. She graduated from East Bend High School in 1948 and had many fond memories of classmates and teachers. She and Jake were faithful members of Peace Haven Baptist Church and made many friends there.
Ruth was a natural alto and started singing in church at a very young age. She was a cherished wife, momma, grandma and great-grandma and will be missed terribly by the family and friends until the gate opens for all who loved her. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 9 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Mt Bethel Baptist Church in East Bend. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 PM Tuesday in the church with Rev. Bruce Freeman and Rev. Jon Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
