Inez Gilley Simmons

Inez Gilley Simmons, 96, of Jonesville, passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 at her home. She was born in Surry County on December 3, 1923 to James Edgar and Octavia Harris Gilley. Mrs. Simmons worked at Chatham’s Manufacturing for 43 years and she attended Arlington First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Simmons, Sr., three brothers, Calvin, Johnny, and Wade Gilley, and by three sisters, Nellie Hunter, Peggy Ward, and Helen Collins. Surviving are her son, Grady Simmons, Jr. and wife Jolene; grandchildren, Grady Simmons, III and wife Sheila, and Jolie Johnsen and husband Krag; great-grandchildren, Brittany Luebchow and husband Andy, Maxwell and Eden Johnsen; and two great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Ruth, and Lucy Mae Luebchow; and a sister, Mildred George and husband John. Her funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Gentry Funeral Chapel in Jonesville. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 1:00-2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267, Yadkinville, NC 27055 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
