Smith Boonville – Sammy Dean Smith, 48, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021. He was born June 9, 1973 in Surry County to Floyd Smith and Vicky Hardy (Mike) Joyce. Sammy was a loyal employee for over 29 years at Unifi, Inc. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his children, Craig Smith, Jenny Smith, Stacy (Cody) Whitaker; grandchildren, Cayden Haroway, Colton Teague, Jaxon Whitaker, an unborn grandson due this November; sister, Sandy (Brook) Pruitt. His funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 15, 2021 at Gentry Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Zane Fishel. Burial will follow at the Smith Family cemetery in Ararat, VA. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00 PM Friday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Family request that mask to be worn during visitation and funeral.
