Sarah Lear Dow

Mrs. Sarah Lear Dow, 81, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023. She was born in Surry County on June 11, 1942 to TC Lear and Juanita Virginia Nixon. Sarah worked at Sunbeam and Chatham Manufacturing and was a homemaker for several years. She loved fishing, gardening, and animals. She especially loved roses. Her favorite color was red. Sarah was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Frances Nixon, Mahala Gentry, and Rosa Poplin. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jon Dow; children, Frank (Linda) Luffman, Jr., Kenneth (Michelle) Luffman, Christina (Jesse) Pardue, and Rosanna (Martha) Hemric; grandchildren, Johnny Luffman, Taylor Blevins, Kyle Casstevens, Ashton Pardue, and Jacob Pardue; great-grandchild, Jake Luffman; brother-in-law, Alan (Donna) Dow; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Rick) Lang; several nieces and nephews; and many family friends. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Gentry Family Chapel in Jonesville with Pastor Flake Mason officiating. Interment will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Jonesville is serving the Dow family.
