Sonya Mae Throckmorton Crews

Sonya Mae Throckmorton Crews, 85, passed away on Wednesday July 5, 2023. She was born November 16, 1937 in Surry County to the late Frank Throckmorton and Ethel Sands Throckmorton. She retired from Jepson & Burns of 20 + years of employment. Mrs. crews loved her flowers, gardening, ball room dancing, and most of all loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald Crews; son Tony Ray Dixon; brothers David Throckmorton, Rufus Throckmorton; sister Glenda Throckmorton Edwards. Surviving are her daughter Robin (Gary) Smith; grandchildren Mindy Groce, Justin Dixon; great granddaughter Raelynn Groce. Her funeral will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday July 9, 2023 at Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Scott Welch. Burial will follow at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church in Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family would like to say a very special thanks to the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice for the loving care given to Mrs. Crews.
