Stanley Edward Ring

Mr. Stanley Edward Ring, 95, of Longtown Road passed away peacefully Saturday, September 11, 2021 at his home. He was born October 21, 1925 in Keene, New Hampshire to the late Fredrick and Irene Dickenson Ring. Mr. Ring was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army Air Corps as a radio operator and mechanic. At the end of the war, while still on active duty in Germany, he was selected to participate as a skier for the Winter Games held that year. In 1966, he founded the Hartford Connecticut Experimental Aircraft Association, EAA chapter 166, and flew a 1940 Piper J4A which he had restored. The primary focus of his career was controls design engineering, he worked on projects for manufacturing cassette tape as well as ultrasonic welding of fabric. Mr. Ring retired and moved to Florida where he continued serving the community with his engineering knowledge by serving on several committees including the Board of Directors of Harbor Isles Community. He was active while living in Florida and enjoyed being a member of the choir at Our Lady of Lords Catholic Church in Venice, Florida. Stanley remained active in his retirement, his team winning the bocci tournament in 2019. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Bradley Ring; sister, Maggie Hughes; and brothers, Bob Ring, and Harry Ring. Surviving is his beloved wife, Pauline; children, Bruce Ring and wife, Donna, Pam Fulwider and husband, Mark, Penny Peirce and husband, John, Peter Peirce and wife, Brenda; 18 grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass will be 2:00 PM Friday, September 17, 2021 at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Elkin. Inurnment for Mr. Ring will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 23, 2021 in the Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 243 North Lee Ave., Yadkinville, NC 27055.
