Stephen Dale Michaels, The word departure literally means to pull up anchor and set sail. Everything that happens prior to death is a preparation for the final voyage. Death marks the beginning, not the end. It is our journey to God. Billy Graham. God took another soldier home on February 17, 2022. Dale was born in Yadkin County on January 8, 1971 to Judy M. Dickens and Billy D. Michaels. He was a graduate from Forbush High School in 1989. After graduation he went into the US Army. He took his basic training at Fort Sill, Okla. and went to Fort Hood, Texas for advanced training and served in South West Asia. He was 13F10 Fire Support Specialist, with a National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Marksman Badge Rifle, Southwest Asia Service Medal W/3 Bronze Service Stars, Kuait Liberation Medal. Dale enjoyed cooking, reading, and fishing and watching ball games and racing, and talking to everyone, he never meet a stranger. Dale was of Friends Faith. Dale preceded in death by his father Billy Michaels; brother Danny Michaels; step father Jason Dickens, grandparents Bonson and Lucille Mickles, J.D. Underwood and Betty Underwood Wyatt. Surviving are  mother Judy Dickens; daughter Layla Michaels; son Bonson “Bo” Michaels NeSmith; grandfather Billy Wyatt; sister in law Suzanne (Mana) Barnes; step mother Debbie Michaels; step brother Bill (April) Sapp; step sister Rebecca (Sid) Maheshway; Tina Wells, Temple (Brian) Kellermann; aunts Sarah (Joey) Boles, Bonnie (David) Hutchens, Edith Levan, Shirley (Roger) Winebarger, Ruth (David) Steward, Linda (David) Lafferty; uncles Bob (Wanda) Mickles, Den Mickles. Special friends Scott Hayes and Randell Bridges; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 4-5 PM Sunday February 20, 2022 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 PM Sunday February 20, 2022 at Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Lane Levan. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Michaels family.
