Thomas Byron Campbell

Boonville-  Mr. Thomas “Byron” Campbell, 90, of Hinshaw Road passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at the SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin.  He was born November 24, 1932 in Yadkin County to the late Roscoe Dewey and Pearl Groce Campbell.  Mr. Campbell was a veteran of the US Army where he served faithfully from 1953-1955.  One of his assignments completed was guarding the US Capitol Building in Washington D.C.  He worked hard as a dairy and tobacco farmer his entire life.  He loved working outside, spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed playing Rook at Gardner’s “Rook House” located in Shady Grove Farm Supply.  Mr. Campbell was also a faithful member of North Oak Ridge Baptist Church where he served on the building and grounds committee for several years.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, J. Lee Campbell, Lorene (Fred) Mendenhall, Lola Mae (Brady) Oliver, Richard (Hazel) Campbell, Graham (Lib) Campbell, Georgia (Keith) Carpenter, Kenneth Campbell; by his brother-in law, Ronnie Moxley, and sisters-in-law, Janice Moxley and Sue Casstevens.  Surviving are his devoted wife of 67 years, Grace Ann Moxley Campbell, of the home; his children, Danny Thomas Campbell and wife, Terry, Kimberly Ann Campbell-Tolbert and husband, Billy; grandchildren, Tyler Samuel Angell, Julia (Garrett) Campbell-Moxley, Meghan (Garrett) Hutchens; step-grandson, Ethan (Tara) Tolbert; great-grandchildren, Lincoln Reid Moxley, Campbell Grace Hutchens; step-great-granddaughter, Aeve Tolbert;  sisters-in-law, Ruby H. Campbell, Shirley Campbell, Frances (Ken) Mabe, Janice (Herman) Brown, Frankie Moxley; and brothers-in-law, Tom Moxley, Bobby D. Moxley, and Ricky Casstevens.  The family will receive friends from 11:30-1:00 PM Saturday at North Oak Ridge Baptist Church.  His funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00PM Saturday in North Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Link, Rev. Linwood Campbell, and Rev. John Altizer officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Full Military Honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to the North Oak Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund, North Oak Ridge Road, Boonville, NC  27011.  The family would also like to express their gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice, New Horizons Care, and the Kernersville V.A. Clinic for all their loving care provided to Mr. Campbell.
