Thomas "Odell" Mendenhall

Boonville Mr. Thomas “Odell” Mendenhall, 71, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Mendenhall was born November 25, 1946 in Yadkin County to David Fate and Martha Collins Mendenhall. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Mendenhall was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed horseback riding with his many friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mendenhall was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Mendenhall. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Jenny Bullin Mendenhall; four children, Amber (Michael) Fulk, Bryan (Jan) Mendenhall, Brad (Shelly) Patton, and Marna (Ramey) Freeland; three grandchildren, Brett and Mackenzie Fulk and Garrett Freeland; two sisters, Clara Jane (Raleigh) Autry and Lou Ray Poindexter; three brothers, David (Karen) Mendenhall, Phillip (Janet) Mendenhall, and Jimmy (Pat) Mendenhall; a sister-in-law, Versie Mendenhall; his faithful dog, Roper; and many special friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00PM, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Gooden officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and NC National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 12:00PM prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church, 2401 Nebo Rd, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
