Tommy Lee Speer

Yadkinville Mr. Tommy Lee Speer, 70, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Woltz Hospice Care Center. Tommy was born January 17, 1950 in Surry County to Bobby and Dorothy Whitaker Speer. He enjoyed tractors, his chickens, going to the farmers market, but most of all, his family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Speer was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sue Hutchens Speer; a son, Terry Lee Speer; and a brother, Mike Speer. He is survived by three children, Brent (Lisa) Speer, Kent (Paula) Speer, and Leandra (Mickey) Burcham; grandchildren, Brittany (Adam) Lyons, Miranda Speer (Matt), Andrew Speer, Kimberly Speer, Kailey Burcham, and Reese Burcham; a great grandchild, Karson Dale; sisters, Carolyn (Russell) Jones and Tiny Speer; brothers, Eldon (Nancy) Speer, Rex Speer, Donnie Speer, and Tim (Diane) Speer; and a sister-in-law, Betty Jo Speer. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00AM, Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Solid Rock Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Jeff Farmer. Mr. Speer will be available for public viewing Tuesday, August 11th from 11:00AM to 5:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mtn. Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267 Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Melissa King, Jane with Hospice, the staff of Mtn. Valley Hospice and Woltz Hospice Care Center for the loving care given to Tommy. Also, a very special thank you to the friends and neighbors for the food, visits and prayers.
