Tony Wilkinson Reece

Boonville - Mr. Tony Wilkinson Reece, age 80, of Boonville passed away Jan.1,2024, at Woltz Hospice Home, Dobson, N.C.  Mr. Reece was born April 3, 1943, to Daniel and Mamie Collins Reece.  He was a former mayor of Boonville, where he was also a longtime commissioner.  His love of community and public service led him to serve in many ways, primarily as an auxiliary police officer, deputy, and volunteer fire fighter.  Mr. Reece’s career included stints as a master mechanic, and as a long-time switching engineer for Oldtown Telephone, later Midcontinent Telephone, and finally Alltel Communications.  He was a lifelong member of Deep Creek Friends Meeting, where he served in many capacities and enjoyed singing in the choir.  Mr. Reece had a passion for restoring cars and fishing the Outer Banks.  He loved spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.  He had a tremendous sense of humor, of community, and a strong will that served him well in his later years as he battled Parkinson’s Disease.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years; Ethel Geneva Reece.  Two children, Danny L. Reece and wife Jennifer of North Wilkesboro; Byron (Bo) Reece and husband Kyle King of Raleigh, two grandchildren, Anna Foster & husband Andrew of Miller’s Creek, Charles Reece and fiancé Malleah of Knoxville, TN, a great-grandson, William Michael Foster of Miller’s Creek, and his beloved sister, Judy Reece and husband Steve of Tullahoma, TN.  The family would like to thank the caregivers at Yadkin Nursing Center, Forsyth Medical Center and Woltz Hospice Home for their kindness and care.  His funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 5, 2024 at Deep Creek Friends with Rev. Randy Quate officiating.  Burial will follow in Deep Creek Friends Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorials can be made to Deep Creek Friends Meeting, 1140 Deep Creek Church Road, Yadkinville, NC  27055.  Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Reece family.  Online condolences can be made at www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
