Tula Winford Vestal

Boonville Mr. Tula Winford Vestal, 94, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Yadkin Nursing Center. Mr. Vestal was born January 5, 1924 in Yadkin County to Tandy and Mamie Kitrell Vestal. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served during WWII. Mr. Vestal worked for Western Electric for many years and was a member of Boonville UMC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Vestal was preceded in death by five sisters, Molly Nance, Louzetta Brown, Sarah “Odie” Martin, Lillian Jester, and Nina Eads; and two brothers, Taft Vestal and Troy Vestal. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Bonnie Hayes Vestal; two children, Dan (Connie) Vestal and Mitzi (Jerry) Davis; three sisters, Shirley Holsclaw, Martha Newsome, and Katie Stanley; and many friends and church family who loved him dearly. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Tula will be conducted at 2:00PM, Friday, February 2, 2018 at Boonville UMC Fellowship Hall with Rev. Jenny Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Grassy Creek UMC cemetery with full military honors provided by US Navy Honor Guard and Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM prior to the service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boonville UMC Choir Fund, PO Box 178 Boonville, NC 27011.
