Velma Trivette Shugart

Yadkinville Mrs. Velma Leigh Trivette Shugart, 80, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Shugart was born April 22, 1937 in Yadkin County to Grady and Sarah Reynolds Trivette. She was a member of Shacktown Church of Christ and was a retired nurse and school teacher. She displayed a genuine kindness to everyone in need. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shugart was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lee Shugart; a sister, Mary Ann McCollum; and a brother, Wilson Trivette. She is survived by one daughter, Kristy (Robert) Gillinder; two grandchildren; a sister, Shirley (Robert) Bost; two brothers, Grady (Carolyn) Trivette and Jay (Nancy) Trivette; a special aunt, Evva Rich; a special nephew Steve (Kathy) McCollum; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 5:00PM, Monday, March 5, 2018 at Gentry Family Chapel with Brother Steve McCollum, Brother Lawrence Warden, and Brother Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Shacktown Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
