Vena Durham Shore

Vena Mae Durham Shore, age 84, passed away May 21, 2019. She was born May 31, 1934 in Wilkes County to the late Ransom and Pearl Durham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Shore; sister Ozena Reeves; brothers Vaughn Durham, James Durham, Horace Durham, Hubert Durham, Jerry Durham and three young siblings; special nieces and nephews Roger Reeves, Michael Durham, Darin Shore; in laws Monroe and Carol Sloop, RV Reece, Jimmy Hinson, Dorothy Stone, Jo Anne Shaffner, Hazel Durham, Goldie Durham, Reba Durham, Pearl Durham, Vivian Durham, Blaine Reeves. She is survived by special nieces and nephews Larry and Debbie Durham, Tony Durham, Nelda Leal, Gerald Durham, Bradley and Michelle Shore, Cody and Emily Darnell; special great nieces and great nephews David Durham, LeAnn Moser, William Reeves, Laura Spears, Lauren, Brooke and Alaina Shore, Aydan and Ethan Darnell; brother Pete Durham; in laws Charles and Ola Shore, Betty Reece, Joan Hinson, Wayne and Vickie Shore, Gayle Shore, Preston and Brenda Stringer, Junior and Donna Goforth, Francis Durham; and many more nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, family and friends. She always treated everyone like family. Vena was an excellent seamstress, loving to sew clothing for her family and you never left her home without a full stomach as she always made sure to have food on the table for friends and family. She loved watching UNC Tarheels and the Atlanta Braves. In her younger years, she was an all-around athlete and especially loved playing basketball, softball and bowling. She was a member of Little Mtn. Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 26, 2019 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service. Her funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 3:30 PM at Flat Rock Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
