Virginia "Jenny" Brown

Brown Pfafftown – Virginia Lee Brown (Jenny), 78, born November 19, 1938 in Yadkin County passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. Jenny was proceded in death by her husband, Clarence Young Brown; father, Arthur Lee Holcomb Jr. and mother, Bessie Swaim Holcomb.  Jenny is survived by her sister, Phyllis (Jasper) Adams and brother, Chris (Dee) Holcomb; nieces, Kathy (Chris) Sharpe, Melanie Adams, Kelsey Holcomb; great nephews, Justin (Cara) Sharpe, Taylor Sharpe and Wesley Adams; special family friends, Lynn Metcalf, Frances Fulk, Clara Gilley, and Nannie Swaim.  She graduated from Jonesville High School and Draughn’s Business College.  She was employed by Western Electric/AT&T and retired after 30 years of service.  Jenny was a member of Arlington First Baptist Church in her youth and after marriage joined Macedonia Baptist Church in Tobaccoville where she has been a faithful and active member for 57 years.  She served on many committees, treasurer, secretary, missionary circles, choir and Sunday School Teacher.  She performed many skits over the years to promote the Lottie Moon Offering.  Jenny loved her family, church and most of all her Lord and Savior.  She had a special gift of a quick wit that had a way of making you smile even during this time of her illness.  Jenny is now walking streets of gold with her husband, mom and dad and others she deeply cared for that have gone on before her.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.  The celebration of her home going will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Tobaccoville by Pastor, Marty Sewell.  She will lie in-state one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.  A private family graveside service will be held at Harmony Grove Friends Cemetery following the service.  The private graveside service will be led by Dr. Robin Dixon.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and sitters of Forsyth Memorial Hospital who cared for Jenny with compassion and care.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony Grove Friends Cemetery Trust Fund, Macedonia Baptist Church, Gideon Bible Ministry, or a charity of your choice.  Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Brown family.  Online condolences can be made at www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
