Virginia Mae Mathis Messick, 84, passed away Tuesday July 4, 2017. She was born October 24, 1932 to the late Bob Glenn and Nadie Shore Mathis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Glen Albert Messick; two sisters Rita Bryant, Marilyn Long; two brothers Noah Mathis, Sanford Mathis. Surviving are her children Sharon (Junior) Church, Steven (Rebecca) Messick, Kenneth (Teresa) Messick, Joe (Anita) Messick, Dennis (Debbie) Messick, Regina (Shorty) Howell; eighteen grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; sisters Velna Riggins, Audrey Hobson, Clarice (Tommy) Collins, Polly Bowman; brothers Dale (Nettie Ruth) Mathis, Glen Mathis. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM Thursday July 6, 2017 Gentry Family Funeral service in Yadkinville. Her funeral will be conducted 3:00 PM Thursday following the visitation in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Phillip Link. Burial will follow at West Yadkin Baptist Church Cemetery.
