Vivian May Adams Harrison

Yadkinville – Vivian May Adams Harrison, 95, wife of late George L. Harrison passed away. She was born May 11th 1926 in Yadkin County. Her parents were the late John Wesley and Hattie Bovender Adams and Bill and Permilia Williams Bovender. She graduated Boonville High School in 1942. While in high school, Vivian played basketball. She and her team won a County Championship and District Tournament. She loved watching NC College Basketball and Atlanta Braves baseball. She was so excited to watch the Braves Win the World Series this year. She also enjoyed gospel quartet singing. She and her husband, George, ran a Dairy at their home for 40 years. While running the farm, she also enjoyed baking pound cakes which won her first place in a Yadkinville baking contest. She shared her cakes with her family, friends, church and the North Carolina Palomino Horse Association. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, Haley. Haley was born after Vivian retired and she enjoyed helping raise her. She watched Haley show her horses and taught Haley her wondering cake recipe. Vivian was a member of Union Cross Friends Church before moving to Center United Methodist Church. The ladies from the Susanna Wesley Circle were very special to her. She also had some very special friends in her life. Some have passed on and they are together again. The ones still here include, Lucille Shore and Geraldine Brannon. Also, her niece, Carol Macemore was very special to her. Her caretaker, Lisa Royall was a God send to her. She enjoyed her company very much. Also, Alissa Long was a blessing to her. Vivian’s dog, Abby, has been by her side for 16 years and brought her joy every day. Vivian was proceeded in death by her husband, George L. Harrison and several other family members. She is survived by loving family members; Rebecca & Tony Hine, Haley & Ryan Milholand, her dog Abby and several other family members elsewhere. A private graveside service was performed by Roy Sheek, who spoke and sang Amazing Grace and In the Garden. Vivian requests donations can be made in Vivian’s name to Center United Methodist Church, 1400 Center Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
