William "Bill" Arthur Cummings, Sr.

William Arthur (Bill) Cummings Sr. On December 29, 2024, William Arthur (Bill) Cummings Sr. (81) peacefully entered the gates of Heaven surrounded by his family. Bill leaves behind a legacy of setting the standard for how a husband and father loves his family. Bill was the example for love of family every day. Bill was born in Hamptonville, NC to the late W.P. (Bill) Cummings (Pop) and Dorothy (Nanny) Brawley Cummings on June 26, 1943. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph Wayne Cummings and Robert Grey Cummings. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Janie (Emily Jane) Cummings, his son William (Bill) Cummings Jr. (Misty), his daughter Karen Leigh Davis (Matt), his son Robert (Rob) Cummings (Crystal), six grandchildren: Taylor, Hannah, Emma Kate, Peyton, Joey, and Adalynn Jane, and his sister Elizabeth White. Bill attended West Yadkin High School, in Hamptonville, NC, received a business degree from Elkin Business School and took business courses at Guilford College, and at Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC. After retiring in 1996, Bill enjoyed a fulfilled life spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, taking his boat out on the lake with his family and driving his Corvette. He restored a 78 Chevrolet truck and was a member of Clemmons Presbyterian Church. Bill was a longstanding successful manager of claims for Pilot Freight. Bill’s legacy will remain forever and he will be dearly missed by all who know him. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday January 2, 2025 at St. Paul United Methodist Church by Rev. Troy Lesher-Thomas. A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday January 4, 2025 at Clemmons Presbyterian Church 3930 Clemmons Rd. Clemmons NC, 27012 by Rev. Troy Lesher-Thomas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Clemmons Presbyterian Church 3930 Clemmons Rd. Clemmons, NC 27012. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Cummings family.
