William "Bill" Ray Sprinkle

William Ray "Bill" Sprinkle passed to his heavenly home on September 3, 2023 surrounded by his family. Bill was born on December 22, 1931 to the late Gaither William Sprinkle and Ruby Dobbins Sprinkle. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 67 years, Ruby, his daughter Becky (Jerry), son David (Kathy), grandson Gaither (Rebekah) and great-granddaughter, Maggie. After graduating from West Yadkin High School, Bill served in the US Army from 1953-1955, stationed in Germany at the end of the Korean War. After returning from his service, Bill worked at Hanes Hosiery and Westinghouse before retiring in 1992. He was a loyal and active member of Forbush Baptist church where he served on many different committees. For many years, Bill served as the assistant scout master for the Flat Rock Baptist chapter of Boy Scouts of America. During this time, he helped guide and influence many young boys to be good and productive citizens. An active member of the VFW, Bill loyally served in many roles including the honor guard. After retiring, Bill enjoyed spending time camping at the beach, cooking on the "old green Coleman stove", but most of all, spending lots of time with his family who will surely miss him. The family would like to thank the medical team at WFBH for their excellent care provided to Bill over the past few years, the VA for their care and support, and the caring team at Mountain Valley Hospice who made the last days peaceful and comfortable for him. Also, special thanks go to Pastor Grady and Carolyn Trivette for their friendship and pastoring to the family and to special friends Isobel, Brandi, Emily and Ronnie who have provided much needed help to the family. A Celebration of Life will be held at Forbush Baptist Church at 12 noon on Thursday, September 7, 2023. The family will receive friends from 11-12 noon with a graveside service immediately following the Celebration of Life. The family requests that donations be made to Yadkin VFW Post 10346, 4328 Wilhelm Rd., Boonville, NC 27011 for those inclined. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Sprinkle family.
