William "Bill" Dorsey Stammetti

Mt. Airy – William “Bill” Dorsey Stammetti, 66, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023.  He was born March 22, 1957 in Forsyth County.  Bill is loved and sorely missed by the many people who knew him. He had a big heart and personality that attracted people to him and gathered friends wherever he lived.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Nancy Stammetti and his favorite uncle, Sal Stammetti.  Bill is survived by his sister, Suzy Stammetti, his only niece and namesake, Dorsey Salena Smith, a favorite aunt, Jean Stammetti, cousins Bill and Eileen Stammetti, and Ginny Stammetti.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  The family would like to thank Colonial Care Assisted Living for providing a home for Bill two years ago, Northern Regional Hospital for their compassion and excellent care over the last month, and Woltz Hospice for giving comfort and dignity as Bill made the transition.  Fly high, Groovy.  Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Stammetti family.  Online condolences can be made at www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
